The benefits of diatomaceous earth
Diatomaceous Earth (or DE) was created long ago when microscopic sea organisms died, were fossilized, and then mixed with nutrient rich soils. It can now be harvested from these ancient sea beds. DE’s composition is over 80% silica along with magnesium, calcium, sodium, iron, along with trace minerals. Silica is a crucial nutrient to the body and can be found in bones, tendons, skin, cartilage, blood vessels, blood and organs of healthy persons. Most of our modern-day food supply is often lacking in this mineral, thus leaving our bodies deficient as well.
DE works by moving through the digestive tract and attracting and absorbing harmful bacteria, fungi, protozoa, parasites, viruses, endotoxins, pesticides, drug residues, E-Coli and heavy metals, and then moving them along for elimination. Following that, any residual DE gets absorbed into the bloodstream where it can help to clear the blood vessels of accumulated plaque. Then, as the DE breaks down further, the additional benefits of the silica can be obtained throughout the body.
The benefits of regular ingestion of diatomaceous earth can include:
- lowering of the cholesterol and blood pressure
- relief from arthritis pain
- increased energy
- parasite removal
- regular bowel movements
- smoother complexion
- softer hair
- sinus and cough relief
- better quality of sleep.
The recommended dose is 1 tsp mixed with 8 oz of water, taken 3 times per day before your meals. A 90 day period is recommended for the elimination of all parasitic activity. Also it is important to remember that only food grade DE is for internal use, and care should be taken so that you do not inhale the fine powder while you are handling it. DE for internal used can be found online or at animal feed stores.
DE can also be used as a de-wormer for pets by adding 1 tsp a day to their drinking water, and continuing this therapy for 90 days.
Natural flea and tick powder- mix together 1 cup of diatomaceous earth, 1/2 cup Neem Powder, 1/2 cup Yarrow Powder, 20 drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil and put into a shake top container. This can be applied to your pet and brushed into the animals coat. Apply once a week as a preventative, and reapply after swimming or bathing.
