As you can see by the chart above, all countries whether they were fluoridated or not had significant declines in decayed, missing, or filled teeth data since the 1950’s. This was due to advancements in proper tooth care and widespread access to dental care. This worldwide decline can be explained by several reasons including advancement in the field of dentistry, the development and mass availability of the toothbrush and toothpaste, and because routine brushing became mainstream after World War II when American soldiers were required to clean their teeth daily and then brought this information back home to their families following the war.
While topical use of fluoride may appear to be minimally beneficial when applied to the tooth; as in brushing your teeth with a fluoridated toothpaste (sodium fluoride), the ingestion of fluoride through the use of water fluoridation (fluorosilicic acid) is an entirely different matter altogether. The United States is one of only a handful of countries which pushes water fluoridation onto its citizens, and since fluoride has been added to drinking water since the 1950’s, most people have been programmed to believe that it is a harmless additive which is safe and effective for tooth decay.
The history of the water fluoridation program
Prior to the promotion of fluoride as being good for teeth it was used as an insecticide and for rodent control. It had a long history of destroying nearby farmland and killing domestic animals as well as causing injury to the workers who were exposed to it in the manufacturing industry. In the early 1900’s, doctors and dentist were studying the detrimental effects that fluoride was having on teeth and the body, but that all changed within a short period of time when fluoride went from being a poison that caused fluorosis and skeletal problems to being a protected pollutant with “health benefits.”
Some of the historical figures of early days of fluoridation research were Trendley Dean, Frank McClure, Harold Hodge, Edward Largent, Wallace Armstrong, David Ast, and Gerald Cox. Dean worked for ALCOA (a major aluminum manufacturer) that was owned by Andrew Mellon, who served as the Secretary of the Treasury under 3 presidents, his position at that time had oversight over the Public Health Service. Gerald Cox worked for the Mellon Institute (an institute which worked vehemently to defend major corporations from lawsuits due to pollution and grievous injury). Largent was the most visible member of the research teams at Kettering Laboratories at the University of Cincinnati, which was heavily funded by ALCOA and several other fluoride-polluting companies. Largent was also a consultant for Reynolds Aluminum Company. McClure was one of fluoridation’s greatest cheerleaders and worked for the industry-influenced National Institute of Dental Research.
In 1947, ALCOA’s lead counsel, Oscar Ewing, was named to head the Federal Security Agency (FSA), which later became the U.S. Health, Education and Welfare Department (today it is called the Department of Health and Human Services, or HHS). Ewing went on the ALCOA payroll in 1944 at the astounding salary of $750,000 per year. The FSA oversaw the Public Health Service, and the same year that Ewing was appointed to the FSA, he initiated a national fluoridation project funded through the PHS, with the goal of pushing the fluoridation agenda along in the absence of any credible scientific data.
At first, there were only two cities taking part in the water-supply fluoridation trials: they were Grand Rapids, Michigan and Newburgh, New York. The tests were to run for ten to fifteen years in order to collect the necessary data, but Ewing began campaigning for a national fluoridation program when the tests had only been ongoing for less than two years, and no significant data could have been collected within that short of a time frame. Regardless of the lack of data it was released that fluoride had proven itself to be effective against tooth decay. Very soon after that declaration other communities began jumping on the bandwagon without any regard to long term safety of fluoride, and by1950, there were 89 cities participating in some type of water fluoridation program despite having no credible evidence to demonstrate that it reduced tooth decay. ALCOA was now in a new line of business, selling sodium fluoride to cities to put into their water supply. ALCOA was even advertising the purity of its sodium fluoride. Somehow reality had been inverted, and an industrial waste was now being ingested under the guise of being a “medicine.”
Eventually, long after other cities were already fluoridating their water, the fluoridation results for Newburgh and Grand Rapids were partially published, but have been ignored ever since. Although there was no measurable decrease in tooth decay, Newburgh boys had twice the incidence of skeletal deformities and a higher tooth-mottling rate as compared to the un-fluoridated control group in nearby Kingston. Other data showed that heart disease in Grand Rapids had nearly doubled after the first five years of the fluoridation experiment, and young girls appeared to enter puberty slightly earlier than the control group.
Fluoride and the atomic weapons program
According to Chris Bryson, author of the book The Fluoride Deception government and industry wrote the regulations regarding fluoride together, therefore making it nearly impossible to prosecute a company for grievously harming nearby communities, or its own workers, when handling a material that had been deemed safe and effective for strong bones and teeth in children.
But there is still an even darker side to fluoride. The U.S. government performed 1032 atomic detonations, 2 were dropped on the people of Japan, the rest were all done at test sites on land and sea. This industry required huge amounts of fluoride, therefore the government had a vested interest in protecting it and the companies who were supplying it.
Harold Hodge was the leading scientist who was very vocal on the promotion of water fluoridation, while at the same time involved in the Manhattan project, aka. atomic weapons development. He continually vouched for the safety of fluoride while at the same time injecting patients with uranium and plutonium to see what the effect would be on his unsuspecting human subjects. Eileen Welsome’s documents this tragic history in her Pulitzer prize winning book ‘The Plutonium Files: America’s Secret Medical Experiments in the Cold War.’
Fluorosilicic Acid is what is being used to flouridate drinking water
Currently 90% of fluoridated communities are using a chemical slurry called fluorosilicic acid to fluoridate their water. This acid is captured from the smoke stacks of phosphate fertilizer plants to eliminate the toxic air pollution that had been destroying nearby vegetation and livestock. And most shockingly, in many municipalities, this acid is being imported from China because their fluorosilicic acid waste product is the cheapest on the market. It is truly disturbing that we are paying to use another countries toxic waste to poison our own people. Fluorosilicic acid that has been obtained this way is contaminated with other heavy metals including arsenic, lead, mercury and many others as it does not go through any type of filtering process before it is being added into our drinking water.
Fluoride cannot be released into the air as that is air pollution, it cannot go into rivers or streams as that is water pollution, but it can be put directly into our drinking water supply? The Department of Health and Human Services says that it is diluted enough that that it won’t harm our bodies, but will benefit our teeth. 1/3 of adolescence today show signs of fluorosis (white streaking on the teeth, or brown spots and pitting) which is a sign of over-ingestion of fluoride. We are now inundated with fluoridated products as most processed foods and beverages contain some degree of fluoride.
Fluoride and Infants
Do not buy “Nursery Water” because it contains fluoride, and do not use fluoridated city water for mixing formula.
According to the ADA and the CDC, infants should not be fed formula mixed with fluoridated water or it will put them at risk for over-exposure. This fact is not publicized because it would come to light that people would have to purchase bottled water for their infants. Low income people may not have the ability to do this, and it is the low income children who are the target audience of water fluoridation due to lack of dental care.
Health problems associated with fluoride
Include arthritis, low thyroid function, hormone disruption, elevated risk of bone cancer, gastrointestinal issues, fluorosis of teeth and bones among others. It gathers in all calcified areas of the body including the pineal gland which is located within the brain and regulates hormones.
A healthy person will eliminate 50% of the fluoride they ingest daily, however those with kidney dysfunction or a compromised immune system will accumulate more and more fluoride as their system is unable to process it. Anyone taking chemotherapy or suffering from other immune deficiencies should take precautions with fluoridated water. Prnewswire’s article on fluorides health risk
Dr William Hirzy, an EPA scientist discussing the use of fluorosilicic acid to fluoridate water
Interview with Dr John Colquhoun, who previously served as the chief dental officer in Auchland New Zealand. It was his job to promote fluoridation. He changed his mind when he took a hard look at the data which revealed that fluoridation does not prevent dental cavities. He made this video right before his death as he apologized to the people of Auchland for poisoning them.

Drinking water with minerals
Water- your body needs a minimum of 50 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight per day in order to flush toxins out of the body and to stay well hydrated. This water should have minerals– such as found in spring water.
Buy a filter or be the filter- consider purchasing a water filtration system that will remove fluoride, chlorine, and other chemicals and metals that are found in municipal water supplies. A simple carbon filtration system will only remove chlorine so don’t assume that any filter will do. You can find products online that will remove the harmful elements and leave the beneficial minerals intact, such as this Big Berkey Water System, or another filtering systems that will remove fluoride and other contaminants.
Recipes to add minerals to filtered water:
Recipe #1 – take one gallon of water and add 1/2 tsp sea salt, the juice of 4 lemons or limes (and toss in the skins too), 1 tbsp of raw, organic honey, and a pinch of organic stevia (if needed) and drink this throughout the day. Sea salt contains 82 trace minerals which will enhance this water. Lemons and limes will create an alkaline ash following digestion.
Recipe #2- take 4 tbsp of fresh lemon or lime juice, added to 8 ounces of water. Drink this 4 times per day.
Recipe #3– take 2 clean organic lemons and blend them up whole (with skins and seeds) with some water, and then add this to 1 gallon of water, 1/2 tsp of Himalayan sea salt, and 1 tbsp of pure local honey, pure maple syrup, or some stevia. You can filter out the pulp as you pour your servings.
Recipe #4- adding Alkaline Drops to your filtered water.
