Dr Ruby Lathon heals from thyroid cancer with a raw vegan diet

It was January of 2007, when Dr Ruby Lathon was diagnosed with thyroid cancer that she says left her in complete shock.

The standard treatment for thyroid cancer includes the removal of the thyroid and then taking hormone medications. After thoroughly researching her options, she decided to give herself one year to follow a more holistic path to recovery and if that didn’t work she would consider doing the treatments that her doctor was recommending. “I just decided to try an alternative, holistic approach rather than go through surgery and then be on medications for the rest of my life.” To accomplish this goal she knew that she had to completely change her diet and her lifestyle habits.

The diet and lifestyle changes that Ruby made:

She eliminated all of the processed foods from her diet. They are nutritionally dead foods and have no place in a cancer healing diet. She says, “I started learning how to make healthy food taste good.” Working with raw foods and green leafy veggies she created beautiful and delicious meals to nourish her body.
She eliminated meat and dairy products because they are acidic to the body.
She began juicing fresh vegetables and fruits. “It’s like the best thing ever because it gives me so much energy.”
She ate lots of fruits and vegetables in their raw, natural form.
She began meditating to calm her mind.
She began to exercise. This moves the lymphatic system and oxygenates the blood.

She said that she did whatever it took to optimize her immune system and her efforts paid off in March of 2008 when she was pronounced to be cancer free.

Acidic vs alkaline foods– Acidic foods such as grains, meats, dairy, coffee, alcohol, soda, sugars, fast food and processed foods all add hydrogen molecules to the body, making it more acidic; and alkaline foods such as most vegetables and fruits will remove hydrogen molecules from the body, making it more alkaline.

When we eat diets that are primarily composed of acid-forming foods, the body must continually take steps to neutralize the excess acid by drawing minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium from your bones, teeth, and organs to keep itself within a healthy range. So when we eat, we either provide the body with the abundance of nutrients that it needs to maintain optimal health or we are left in a state of continually drawing upon our mineral reserves until this delicate system can no longer sustain health. Juicing– by increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables to at least 10-15 servings per day, you will be providing your body with an abundance of nutrients that can help to supercharge your immune system so that you can begin to fight off sickness. Furthermore, it takes a lot of energy to digest meals, juicing allows you to increase your overall servings of the most nutrient dense foods without overtaxing the digestive system. A Cancer Healing Diet Program- “Mutated cells need the right neighborhood to grow. Your Lymphatic System- is composed of your tonsils, thymus, bone marrow, spleen, lymphatic fluid, vessels, and lymph nodes. This often overlooked system is your body’s sanitation department that cleans up all of the debris which is created by the other systems of the body. Your skin is your largest detox organ, with the liver and spleen working just about as hard. The kidneys work to filter your blood, while your liver and spleen cleanse your blood and lymph fluids of excess hormones, neurotransmitters, dead and damaged cells, bacteria, and toxins and process them for elimination.
